From the desk of Dr. Dandy: Back to school Wellness Kit

I will never forget my first day of kindergarten, my stomach was in knots. As we drove to the school in Twin Falls, my mom informed me that sometimes when we get nervous, we can get an upset stomach. I also remember my first day of school perfectly. Kids are nervous and have a lot to maneuver at school, friends, school work, recess. Here are some tools to use to set your kids up for success.

1. Rescue Remedy: this is a combination of Bach Flowers that treat the nervous system and can help keep kids calm and tame down the back to school nerves.

2. Chamomile tea with honey: this is a calming and delicious tea that any child can tolerate. It is a helpful way for kids to sleep and rest and digest from a stressful day.

3. Magnesium: this is a great remedy to help kids stay focused in school. It also assists with sleeping and keeping the bowels regular.

4. Arnica: this is a homeopathic remedy that can help with scrapes, bruises and many other ouchies.

5. Peppermint essential oils: this is a great oil to have around for stomach aches, headaches or car sickness

6. Lavender essential oil: this oil has been touted for years for its calming effects, but it also is a great first aid oil. It can clean up scrapes and cuts, decrease the burn of a bee sting. Help to pull out a splinter. It also helps to stop bleeding when trying to clean a wound.

7. Elderberry syrup with echinachea: this is an all around immune booster to support and protect your children from all the germs at school. It helps with the common cold, flu and fevers.
